Dr. Yew Wee Chua is an experienced General Paediatrician who feels privileged to care for children from birth to adolescence. He has a particular interest in newborn and infant care and the management of children with chronic and complex medical conditions. His focus is on keeping the child at the heart of any decision making and supporting families to help their child grow and develop at their full potential.
Yew Wee has practiced as a consultant General Paediatrician since 2006. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Hornsby Ku-Ring Gai Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital. He has close links with the tertiary Children’s Hospital at Westmead having worked there as a Visiting Medical Officer in the Department of General Medicine for 10 years.
He spent many years training and serving the rural communities in New South Wales and enjoyed being part of the Rural Locum Service and served as a Paediatrician at Dubbo Base Hospital. He is happily married and is blessed to have two children who give him much joy.
Dr Kate Webster is a General Paediatrician who has over 10 years’ experience practicing acute and general Paediatrics in the local community. Having grown up locally, she moved to Newcastle, where she completed her medical degree. She then returned to Sydney, committed to a career in Paediatrics and undertook her training primarily at Sydney Children’s Hospital, with experience across a wide range of Sydney and rural hospitals and time in the emergency department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Kate enjoys all aspects of Paediatrics, providing a family based approach to assessment and management with coordination with allied health and education where appropriate to provide holistic care. Particular interests and areas of expertise include infant feeding and settling, growth and nutrition, child development, learning difficulties and ADHD.
While not working, Kate is kept busy keeping up with three active boys and enjoys participating in long fundraising walks and exploring the many beautiful parts of Australia and the world.
Dr Emilia Esterman is a General Paediatrician with a special interest in chronic and complex care, disability and paediatric rehabilitation medicine. She enjoys working with children of all ages, from newborns to adolescents, across a range of general paediatric, neurodevelopmental and rehabilitation issues.
Emilia is a Sydney local and completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney. She undertook her specialist paediatric training through The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and additionally completed a 2-year fellowship in Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at Sydney Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. She has experience in brain injury, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal disorders (including achondroplasia and hypermobility spectrum disorders) and spina bifida. In addition to complex care, Emilia enjoys all aspects of paediatric care including newborn care, asthma, constipation, nocturnal enuresis, growth and development. Emilia seeks to support and empower families through a patient and family-centred approach. She has considerable experience in multi-disciplinary care, involving allied health practitioners, psychologists and schools. She also has experience supporting families navigating the NDIS.
Outside of medicine, Emilia loves spending time with her family and is currently undergoing a toddler-led intensive in dinosaurs while simultaneously committing every known Julia Donaldson book to memory.
Dr Hanna Child is a General Paediatrician with a special interest in acute paediatric and neonatal medicine, paediatric complex care and the assessment and management of developmental and behavioural concerns. Hanna gained her medical degree from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2012 and completed her paediatric basic training at Starship Hospital in Auckland. Hanna moved to Sydney in 2019 where she completed her paediatric training in the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. She completed her fellowship in General Paediatrics at Northern Beaches Hospital.
Hanna enjoys working with children from birth through to adolescence. She has expertise managing a wide range of medical issues, growth and development. Hanna has experience in general paediatrics, oncology, community and developmental paediatrics, paediatric emergency medicine, paediatric and neonatal intensive care and rural medicine.
Hanna has a warm and caring approach and believes strongly in patient and family centred care. She works closely with families, other healthcare professionals, allied health, educators and government agencies to ensure her patients medical and psychosocial needs are being met.
Outside of work Hanna enjoys being active and spending down time at the beach with her toddler and husband.
Dr Erik La Hei is a practising General Paediatric Surgeon. His main appointment is at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead where he commenced as a specialist in 2002. He also holds appointments at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital and the Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga.
After graduating in Medicine from Sydney University he was a Surgical Resident at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a Surgical Registrar at Royal North Shore Hospital where he completed his training as an adult General Surgeon.
His Paediatric Surgical training was then at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and also at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick.
After completing his Australian Fellowship in Paediatric Surgery, Erik then went on to do further training in Neonatal and Paediatric Laparoscopic Surgery at the Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam (2000) and then at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London (2001).
He is passionate about teaching, education and research. He held the post of Supervisor of Surgical Training at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead for 9 years, and is a regular lecturer for Diploma of Child Health.
Erik has a broad General Paediatric Surgical practise including Neonatal Surgery, Laparoscopic and Thoracoscopic Surgery, and Paediatric Burns and he has published widely in all of these areas.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. The whole family enjoys keeping fit, running, football and tennis.
